What's The Weather & Climate Like In Scotland

Temperature

Scotland has a temperate maritime climate, which means that the weather can be quite changeable and unpredictable. The country is known for its cool, wet weather, with temperatures rarely reaching above 25°C (77°F) in the summer and often dipping below freezing in the winter.

Overall

In general, the west coast of Scotland tends to be wetter than the east coast, and the Highlands tend to be cooler than the lowlands. However, the weather can vary greatly depending on the season and location within the country.

By Month

In the summer months (June to August), temperatures tend to range between 12°C (54°F) and 19°C (66°F), and there can be a mix of sunshine and rain. In the winter months (December to February), temperatures can drop to around 0°C (32°F) or lower, and snow is not uncommon, especially in the Highlands.

Overall, visitors to Scotland should be prepared for the possibility of rain and cooler temperatures, no matter what time of year they visit.
