In the UK and pretty much anywhere outside of Scotland, wild camping is illegal. So is there a way to experience Wild Camping without breaking the law? Yes there is, there’s a company called Wild With Consent.
After travelling for years in her trusty campervan. Grace founded Wild With Consent. Wild With Consent allows guests the chance to stay in the wild at secluded places with the landowner's consent, rather than parking closely with other tourists and campers. Wild With Consent only offers sites to those travelling in self-contained campervans.
It was pretty easy to navigate the website by location and find a spot we’d like. The sites listed out by destinations. Which was great for us as we knew where we were heading. From finding our spot to booking was easy. Even contacting our host was a breeze. Our spot, like with a lot of them on Wild with Consent, doesn't come with any facilities. So make sure you have everything with you. It was fine for us as our campervan has everything we need.
It wouldn't be a balanced review if we didn't share both the pros and cons from our stay.
Pros - You have the place to yourself and for us, that’s just what we needed. The views were outstanding, we had an almost 360-degree view of the sea. Our particular spot was surrounded by countless walks through the estate. We didn't see another soul only two deer, sheep and cows. Truly in the middle of nature.
Cons - The spots are priced at the higher end of camping, and without facilities, you are paying very much for location....not that this is a con but the price isn't a pro :) We booked our spot when a discount was running.
In
conclusion, if you’re looking for peace and quiet away from busy campsites and want to experience a taste of wild camping then this is for you. Why not check out the site and let us know what you think?
