We Sold Everything & Traded House Life For Van Life - Transcript
[00:00:00] Trist: So we live in a van. We're going to show you what the first couple of weeks of Van life look like.
[00:00:05] Trist: Now if you're a regular viewer to our Channel you'll have seen that our last trip was in February. And our last lot of videos came out in March. That was when everything changed for us.
[00:00:14] Trist: March came and we decided to move into a van. With only a hundred days to get everything sorted before we moved into our new home. We had to sell our entire lives on the internet. We're living in our 34-year-old Talbot Express campervan old Gertie.
[00:00:31] Trist: All right guys thanks to the cool backshot.
[00:00:33] Trist: But before we tell you what we've been up to. Let's fill you in on what's been going on.
Back Story

Trist:
The back story of how we got here and did it in a hundred days. We made the decision to move into a camper van an absolute lifelong dream. With 100 days to sell everything we had to get moving sharpish. So we hit eBay. Facebook Marketplace and vinted. Left some stuff out the front of the house to be fair. To sell everything we owned and I mean everything.
[00:01:02] Trist: anything we weren't going to keep in the van had to be sold. All the plants that we've grown over the years.
[00:01:07] Trist: We had about 100 plants that we've been growing for the last few years. Which was sold on Facebook Marketplace. We even sold one to Louis Cole. Which was pretty cool
[00:01:15] Trist: But if selling everything wasn't even the hardest task. We still had to sell Leo our old VW and get a new van that we could stand up in and live in.
[00:01:24] Trist: And with 100 days, time was running out quickly. And with Leo we were cutting it fine. We got down to less than one week before moving out and into Old Gertie. And we still had possession of Leo. But we ended up selling it to a great fella we knew Leo was going to go to a new home for lots of new adventures.

Trist: With everything sold. We cleaned the house top to bottom. And final checks. We wanted to make sure we'd left nothing behind.
[00:01:47] Trist: Yeah definitely got it all
[00:01:49] Kez: Yeah… Oh your drink. And your sandwich.
[00:01:54] Trist: To bring you up to speed with where we are now.
[00:02:02] Trist: So yeah we moved out of the house. Moved into Gertie. And we'd had a few recommendations from people online, suggesting that we might need a bit of downtime in one place. Just to collect our thoughts and piece everything together. Because it's been a pretty hectic last few months.
[00:02:17] Trist: As you can imagine every day of waking up working, packing, selling, rinse, repeat. [00:02:02] Trist: So yeah we moved out of the house. Moved into Gertie. And we'd had a few recommendations from people online, suggesting that we might need a bit of downtime in one place. Just to collect our thoughts and piece everything together. Because it's been a pretty hectic last few months.
Wild With Consent
[00:02:24] Trist: So we decided to book ourselves into a Wild With Consent. It's a great website. The website connects people with farmers and farmland whereby you can go and be completely by yourselves.
[00:02:35] Trist: And this is exactly what we needed. So we hit the website. Found a place in Somerset near Minehead and our plot was called the Vista Views. One thing to add is a lot of these spots don't have toilets. Don't have fresh running water. So you need to come along fully equipped with all your bits and pieces.
[00:02:50] Trist: Where we stayed with absolutely stunning beautiful views. What I didn't read on the way up there. Was we went up Porlock Hill. I should have realised when I spoke to my Dad and he said ‘oh where are you guys staying’ and I said. Oh… Porlock Hill. In a particular way. Little did I know we decided to drive Old Gertie up the steepest hill in England. You're probably laughing at us now.
Porlock Hill
[00:03:12] Trist: But hey she made it and that's all that matters. It might have been going up the hill in first gear at 10 miles an hour. But we still made it, let me tell you that. Packed to the rafters. But as I say our Wild With Consent we had the whole place to ourselves.
Bude Cliff Top Camping
[00:03:23] Trist: We only had to share it with some sheep and some deer that we saw coming through in the evenings. We couldn't ask for any more. But after a few days there, we decided to head on down to one of our favourite spots. Just north of Bude. A £10 farmer’s field. Pay per night. It's got a flushing toilet and water what more do you need?
[00:03:39] Trist: It's a perfect location if you love to surf. I do, but I didn't take my surfboard. Camping on top of the cliffs. You can get a bird's eye view of the coastline. All the way from Bude up to Sandymouth and Beyond it is absolutely epic.
[00:03:51] Trist: Hanging around there for a few more days. We decided that we weren't going to keep trucking around just yet. We wanted to still find our feet. It's a perfect location as it's about 15 minutes drive from Bude. And it's about a 30-minute plus walk to Bude itself.
[00:04:18] Trist: But yeah go check out Bude. It's a lovely place. Great for surfing. Great for holidaying. And if you like fudge and pasties, get yourself down there.
Polzeath
[00:04:25] Trist: But uh after that we headed to one of my favourites. We popped down to Polzeath. Another surf spot I like to head to. Especially when I didn't bring a surfboard with me. So that's fun.
[00:04:35] Trist: Kez hasn’t been to Polzeath before. So we went there and stayed at a campsite nearby. We were going to stay at the Tristram Campsite. But at £50 a night. Err we decided not to.
[00:04:45] Trist: So we stayed at one just near Daymer Bay. You could actually walk from Daymer Bay, all the way around to Polzeath. Or around the other side to Rock.
[00:04:53] Trist: Daymer Bay is beautiful. They've got like a River Estuary. So the water's a little more calmer there. A lot more people go swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, along there.
[00:05:02] Trist: It’s absolutely beautiful. And then yeah you've got Polzeath. That we walked around to. People surfing. So it's making me jealous. But I've got to show Kez where I used to come surfing back in the day.
Tintagel
[00:05:12] Trist: But yeah popped down to Tintagel for the day. That was pretty sick. Yeah, check out this footage.
Merlins Cave Tintagel
[00:05:53] Trist: Went into Merlin's Cave. Absolutely awesome. We've been there so many times, me and Kez. And every time it's been high tide. So it was low tide. We got down there, got to go into Merlin's Cave.
[00:06:04] Trist: Tried to get to walk through to the other side. But she was having none of it.

[00:06:15] Trist: But yeah then I crashed the drone, which uh almost, cried about. I didn’t. So really that's a roundup of what we've been up to in our first couple of weeks of Van Life.

Vintage Vanlife Christmas LOADING...As December begins we start to slow everything back down. Less driving = more exploring, the shorter days don't really allow for both, not everyday at least. So instead of jumping from place to place we are taking the time to explore each spot we find for a couple of weeks at a time and this season is all about cosy, comfort and grounding 🫶🏽🌲
Old Gertie may be little but she is so cosy at this time of year and with her new extension we have more than we need.

To be fair these moments are very few and far between and only when we haven't covered Old Gerties vents during mega downpours. Which in reality you could say is more our fault then blaming Old Gertie 🙈
We also have a portable battery jump starter which has been an absolute game changer on some days, we highly recommend getting yourself one even for more modern vehicles. It can be easy to accidentally drain your battery and if you are parked up alone can become more of a headache then is needed.

Vanlife living, outdoor working 🚐🍂 When we started our online business 8 years ago we never dreamed it was because one day we would be living in a van, working from the woods.
Funny isn't how we put so much weight on decisions when the outcome is often very different from what you pictured. Our reasoning as to wether we try something based on our limited perspective on what it could lead too.
We take risks. Sometimes they pay off, sometimes they don't. But one thing we can never say is we didn't try 🫶🏽 I always say, the greatest luck in life is to have opportunities, you just have to take the chance.
Living and working on the road is a life full of adventure, the highs, the lows and all the in betweens. Vanlife is our way of life and we love it 🚐❤️

Waking up at Stonehenge and going to sleep in the New Forest...that's living the Vanlife way baby 🙌🏽🫶🏽
When your home has wheels, you live wherever gives you the feels (see what I did there 🤣).
If you've been following along on here and over on YouTube then you will know we were in Wales, we had planned to stay longer but sometimes you just don't vibe with a destination for one reason or another. The beautiful thing of living in a van, is you don't have to overthink it.
After a fab couple of weeks exploring Wales (vlogs now live over on YouTube) we decided to leave and head for Stonehenge. It's one of our favourite spots and a popular place with lots of other nomads so we always feel so at peace there 🙌🏽🧘🏻♀️
After a beautiful stop at the stones (we even used our National Trust membership to get up close rather than the free path) we decided it was time to head to the woods. If you know us, you will know by now how much we love the New Forest...it was calling to us ☺️💚

Would you buy a 36 year old campervan? Here's the pros and cons we have found from owning and living full-time in our Talbot express Old Gertie ⬇️
Let's start with the Pros....
✨ The hidden shower design is still the best we have seen to date for a small space.
✨No fancy electrics in the engine means most problems are easy to diagnose and fix
✨Parts are much easier to order then you think thanks to a company called Coastal Motorhomes
✨Windows all around the van means lots of natural light and allows you to enjoy parkups from all angles
✨She came with a little gas oven which means you don't have to sacrifice your Sunday Roast
✨The bed is huge, easily a king-size so plenty of space to spread out
Now the cons...
😆She doesn't like to start when it's been raining...a trick we've found is to cover the bonnet vents and park in the opposite direction of the rain
😆Putting the bed up and down everyday can take longer then you think
😆She doesn't have a boot space so storage is limited
😆She is slow but you learn to adjust to the slower pace of life she sets
😆She is an old girl so needed a few new parts when got her
You always take a risk buying an older vehicle, we were lucky with Old Gertie, we brought her from a mechanic who had her as a passion project. He did all the habitation checks needed and replaced bits which needed fixing. She is also a push rod engine so no worries on a timing belt replacement and had been fully sealed underneath.
There were and are rust patches but none structural and all we are slowly patching up ourselves...the beauty of an older van, you can be less precious with paintwork so it makes cosmetic work easier.
There is probably a lot I've missed or not covered, we will write a blog post on Old Gertie soon (our website link is in our Bio) but for now hopefully that gives you an overview of what we have found buying/living/travelling in our 36 year old Talbot Express campervan...Old Gertie 🫶🏽

🚐🫶🏽 Vanlife means everyday offers a new view, a new place to explore, a new back garden. This was our lunch break stroll whilst living in Wales last month. This month we are living in England and next month we plan on living in Scotland.
Home is no longer within walls or behind fences it's everywhere and anywhere.

I still remember our first wild park up...we did it all wrong! We parked next to No Overnight signs, we weren't hidden from the main road, we got it all wrong because we honestly didn't have a clue what we were doing. BUT the key is we did it anyway. We were nervous, a little fearful but we didnt let that stop us and isn't that the best way to try anything new...jump straight in and learn as you go?
Life is short. Waiting until you are ready to do things can be using time you just don't have. We jumped in with both feet and learned so much along the way.
We will both remember that first night in our wild park up because it was the start of what has turned into one of our biggest life adventures together. If someone had told us then, that one day we would be living full-time in a van we would never have believed them! BUT It's the little things we do that can have the biggest impact.
So if you are wondering how to start Vanlife'ing then our best advice to you would be...
Just get, your sh*T and GO!

Learning to go with the flow, the ups, the downs and the in betweens, that's what living full-time in our Talbot Express has taught us.

Let this be your persuader 🫶🏽🍂🚐 Vanlife in Autumn is truly magical. The colours are just stunning. Wales turns from a lush green into a burnt coloured landscape of oranges and browns.
Driving is one of my favourite parts of vanlife. I find it so therapeutic...even in a 36 year old campervan. Although maybe that's part of the beauty, you have to go at a slower pace in Old Gertie which means more time to soak up your surroundings.
As I often say...some people choose the slow travel life but living in Old Gertie, the slow travel life chose us 🤣🫶🏽

Old Gertie our 35 year old campervan has been our home on wheels for the past 16 months and whilst it has sometimes been a challenge living full-time in something so small the beautiful views we get to experience, which are ever changing, means the outside becomes as much our home as the inside. It turns a minimalist life into one of maximum beauty.
I think it's easy to see why we choose to live the Vanlife way don't you? From the ocean to the expansive countryside, morning sunrises to evening sunsets...it really doesn't get much better than this.
The UK has so much to offer and so much to see, a constant reminder that perspective is what creates your reality 🙌🏽

There are a few tips and tricks that will help you find overnight spots in Wales

Park4night
Google Maps
Search4sites
Britstops
Pitchup
Local Business
...Details and tips below
The first and most obvious one is using Park4night. However one thing we have found is the busier spots are often the ones marked P for parking, for that reason we tend to hunt out the spots marked instead by the tree. These are often further away from residential areas and for that reason much quieter.
We have also found the coast of Wales much busier than inland so we recommend using Park4night (the tent symbol) or pitchup to find low cost campsites if you would rather be by the sea.
Google maps is another great tool for those feeling more adventurous. You forego the user reviews searching in this way but will also then benefit of finding a spot that may still be undiscovered, plus you can use the various tools to review the drive into a spot and it's surrounding areas. We often use Park4night and Google maps in conjunction as it helps unlock additional imagery that Park4night might not include.
Check in with farm shops and other local businesses with large parking spaces, they will often be happy for you to stay overnight as long as you buy something from the business. The Rhug farm estate in North Wales is a perfect example of this, it's a great way to give back to the local area. Search4sites is a website that will uncover more businesses like this.
Britstops is another great app to have (membership required) with over 1200 participating businesses you can map overnight locations where you are allowed to stay as part of your membership and in turn be able to support local businesses who have signed up to the programme. The app also has customer reviews which is really helpful in finding the best spots/businesses
By using a mixture of apps, being considerate in parking and following the Vanlife code of leaving a space nicer then you found it you really won't have a problem doing Vanlife in Wales. Its such a beautiful country with such friendly people, hopefully these tips and tricks will help you get out in your campervan and start exploring 💚

We holed up at one of our favourite little campsites this weekend. A little rest and reset on our current Wales roadtrip 📍 The marsh campsite is owned by the loveliest chap called Hugh who makes you feel so welcomed and is so knowledgeable about the local area he is a campsite owner and tour guide all in one 😀 Good energy makes such a difference to your stay doesn't it!
Peace and quiet, animals and nature all around. We just love this little spot.
However time to get moving today, we are still both feeling a little urgh but banking on some positive mental attitude to try and shake it off. Heading for the beach today and some of that good old fashioned sea air to blow the cobwebs out.

A huge plus to Autumnal Vanlife in the UK 👇🏽...
... everywhere is so quiet!! The national trust carpark is heaving in nicer weather, with an overflow carpark charging £5 for the day. Yet if you come on a slightly damp autumnal week day you have the whole place almost entirely to yourself. Although we are preparing ourselves for half term next week 😬😅
Having a home on wheels meant we could park up in the rain, when most people would avoid arriving, make a brew and have some strawberry jam on toast until the rain stopped. As soon as it did, out we jumped to explore.
📍Henrhyd Falls is either the start or the end of the five waterfall walk if you choose to do it. It takes an hour to walk to the furthest fall and an hour back. We chose to just visit the Henrhyd falls this time as we are both a little under the weather...which was a wonderful way to blow out the germs we felt brewing.
Nature, being outside, it just makes everything feel better doesn't it 🌿💚
We will return to do the five waterfall walk, have you done it? However for now there is still so much of Wales to explore.

A gem of an 🚐overnight spot to kick off our Wales Vanlife adventures 👇🏽Whilst we understand the frustration first hand on the limitations of wild parking in Wales and England, we wouldn't be doing Vanlife justice if we didn't share these amazing approved and allowed overnight stays.
Our @britstops membership makes this an easy win for us. A stunning little pub with a variety of ales to choose from, daily food deals and the most helpful staff this was a spot we knew we had to come back too for an overnight stay.
The carpark is flat and expansive looking straight out to fields full of horses and nature. With the added delight that in only a matter of minutes you can wander off into the countryside where you will find sand dune walks, a church and not one but two ruined castles (one being Ogmore Castle) both free to walk around...plus the famous ancient stepping stones which allow you to cross the river at low tide. I mean what more do you need!
Parked up overnight on our own we may just have well have been wild parking because that's how it felt.

It's time to put some facts to the opinions 👇🏽. Is 'Vanlife' illegal in the UK?
The simple answer is NO. There is currently no UK law in place which states you can not sleep in your vehicle overnight in a space designated for parking. In fact it’s even part of the highway code to pull over and rest when sleepy.
There are however some points to consider.
Local authorities have the power to create their own rules, which can look like a blanket ban (as in place in the New Forest) or parking restriction signs which you will sometimes see. These signs are enforceable, legal and should be adhered too. Failure to do so will put you in the wrong, legally, even if your opinion is that they are not being fair. Where there are no signs in place (on public land), then there is absolutely zero reason you can not park up overnight and sleep in your vehicle in a public place.
Wild camping is different to sleeping in your vehicle. The rights of way act allows public access through private land but clearly states no camping. Therefore if you choose to set up a camp around your vehicle then you could be at risk of breaking the law.
In a nutshell, if you are parking in a space designated for parking, if there are no prohibition signs, if you are not setting up camp outside of your vehicle…then you are not breaking any laws.
We have found that by following some simple guidelines you can ensure you stay on the right side of what can be a very confusing subject.
Do not set up camp around your vehicle (if you do want to sit outside then we tend to take a little walk away from our van to sit and enjoy the surroundings)
👉🏽Do not park on private property (without permission).
👉🏽Take all your rubbish away with you.
👉🏽Stay only one night (this is to protect the environment around you).
👉🏽Never block access to private land.
I hope that helps give some clarity on the rules around vanlife in the UK 🤗

I've said it before and I'll say it again...you NEED this membership if you travel the UK in your campervan.
We recently had a free night's stay only 18 minutes outside of the New Forest (where all wild parking is banned). Tucked away at the end of the carpark with bushes all around us, far from the road we had the most blissful nights sleep, in a carpark can you believe!
BUT this spot was so much more then that. The White Horse in Romsey is a stunning village pub with a huge menu, a roaring log fire and the loveliest most helpful staff. They made our stay and our visit to the pub an all round wonderful experience.
To add to this based on its location you only have to wander a few minutes up the road where you can pass through a tree nursery straight out onto the open tracks of the forest all around.
If you aren't already a britstopper then let this be your sign to join...look at what you are missing.

Chemical waste point, picnic benches galore, loch side views all for FREE!! 🚐💙A sure fire sign you've crossed the border from England to Scotland and it's only a few miles into Scotland, about 6 miles west of New Galloway.
With both the red deer sanctuary and the wild goat sanctuary only a few minutes drive away this is truly an epic spot by location. You can also access the loch for a spot of wild swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding. I mean what more do you need!
Whilst the visitor centre is now permanently closed they have kindly left the chemical waste point open for vanlifers to use...which as we all know can be like gold dust to find when travelling in your van.
A huge carpark offers flat parking with loch views and only a short stumble from your van you can enjoy your pick of about a dozen picnic tables laid out on the grass by the centre with epic views out and across the loch.

And Breathe 💙Tucked behind the An Torr carpark in Glencoe you will find access to the one of our favourite paddling spots in Scotland.
After crossing the bridge you can follow the glen along it's banks where you find plenty of shallow spots to dip your feet. Be warned though in wetter weather the glen can be raging so always be super cautious.
Sat in the wilds of Scotland, toes dipped in icy water with mountains all around you...it's mind cleansing, heart enriching and soul lifting. One of the many reasons Vanlife living can be your gateway to a more mindful life 💙

A spot that has everything you could need and more, save for your next NC500 Vanlife adventure.
📍Knockan Crag is an absolute banger of a location and not one to missed.
First let's talk about the parking. £10 a night as part of the forestry commission stay the night scheme.You will find a level carpark with 24 hour toilets and fresh drinking water...which is gold when you travel in a van. Parked up you have views across the water in front where we have seen some of the most epic sunsets to date. Also if you visit during deer mating season then the calls of the stags can be heard all around, it's truly magical.
Now let's talk about the walk which makes this spot so special.
Knockan Crag is rich in geolocial history, the facts of which you will find as you follow the path around the hill and upto the top. It's not a walk for the faint hearted however it's not long either. Which makes the short climb worth it for the breath taking views that open up to you when you reach the top.
There are multiple view points at the top, with a gentle winding path down the other side of the hill all the way back to the carpark.
This has to be one of our favourite spots on the NC500 and being part of the forestry commission scheme also gives you the opportunity to give back where local business don't exist.

We've had some amazing experiences in Scotland but this is up there with one of the best 💙 Parked up at the donation based campsite in Dumfries and Galloway we knew we were in for a peaceful evening...little did we know how beautiful it would be when suddenly through the cracks in the window we heard the sound of bag pipes fill the air.
After jumping outside we realised we weren't imagining things, a fellow campervan had pulled up next to us and started to play his bagpipes.
Honestly it brought a tear to both our eyes. It was truly a beautiful moment. The chap did have a sign on the side of his van relating to bag pipe playing but we forgot to make a note of it....does anyone know or has seen/heard the bag pipe playing campervanner whilst traveling Scotland?

I literally felt like my feet were going to fall off. Granted this was in the icy waters of Glencoe but still, I've seen people wild swim just up the road in bikinis...I'm in awe.
To be fair I will keep pushing forward. After my little tootsies got used to the cold, we paddled for an hour. The feeling you get, even just from a small submerge in cold water really does make a difference. I felt super charged afterwards and that's just from a paddle, I can only imagine the benefits from a full water submerge.
We have been wild swimming in warmer weather but cold water swimming is another level of mind power 💪🏽Any tips to push past the mental blockers would be greatly appreciated...I have the dry robe so I'm halfway there ☺️ #allthegearnoidea 🤣

Ending at Glencoe mountain resort we have found three parks up with facilities at a budget price. Including places to visit as you travel.
(The forestry commission 'stay the night' scheme runs until 31st October which is when charges apply)
📍Starting at the Glen Lochy Forestry Carpark
£10 a night as part of the forestry commissions stay the night scheme. A quiet riverside picnic site with mountain views.
🌊On route to your next stop make sure you visit Eas Urchaidh where you will find endless cascading waterfalls with beautiful walks off up into the forest with breathtaking views of the scenery below. You can also stay the night in the carpark here if you choose without charge.
📍Second overnight stop on route Bridge of Orchy also £10 with a chemical waste point included (£5 charge if you want to get rid of waste but not stay). A riverside picnic area with views of the surrounding Munros.
🚐Heading onto Glencoe mountain resort you drive the A82 where you will see some of the most breathtaking scenery Scotland has to offer. With multiple stopping points on route to pull over and enjoy the view this has to be one of the best roads to drive in Scotland.
📍Final overnight spot is Glencoe mountain resort which is a £5 donation for overnight parking. They also have 24 hour toilets and showers (£1 for 5 minutes) and a waste point which is an additional charge of £5. Another handy feature, especially in the colder/wetter months, inside the showers you will find a drying room for all your outdoor wet weather gear.
🏔️At Glencoe mountain resort itself you can simply enjoy the view. Hike the surrounding areas or get the cable car to the top of the mountain. Which is also walkable via a windy track up the mountain side, a walk we highly recommend. It is steep but taking it slowly you are able to pause and enjoy the view as you hike. We also learned recently you can do tubing at the base of mountain behind the cafe for £10 per person which looks brilliant fun.

It's such a simple hack but one that works so well ⬇️
Once you find the campsite you love, before booking first check that the campsites website has an email subscription button.
To incentivize you sharing your email address with a campsite they will often offer a discount on your stay when you sign up.
Camping in the new forest as an example offer 10% off when you sign up.
It also has a benefit longer term...Being part of the email subscriber list is valuable to a business and they will often incentivize users to open emails etc with one time offers which are only shared with their valued customers (i.e. email subscribers) Therefore not only do you save on your first booking but are often the first to know about discounted future stays.
If there isn't an initial incentive when booking you will often be asked to tick the box to confirm you are willing to accept future marketing emails. Make sure you do this. We managed to spend a week at different campsites for 50% off thanks to a marketing email from Pitch up.
(A point to note, there is also nothing wrong with signing up with multiple different email addresses each time you stay to maximise the initial offer if there is one. Your email address is valuable use it wisely 🧐☺️)

Vanlife isn't just about finding somewhere to park at night, it's also finding a space to be in the day.
With parking costs on the rise, this isn't always easy HOWEVER we have a hack. A brilliant one at that. If you want day parking in some of the most stunning locations, often with toilets onsite and bins then a National Trust membership is just what you need.
Surrounded by beautiful landscapes you join other day trippers who delight in making the most of some of the most picturesque day parking we have found. Setting up camp chairs to enjoy lunch, laying down a little picnic blanket...everyone is there to enjoy the peace, quiet and nature.
They also are super helpful as we see more and more private carparks closing entirely to motorhomes and campervans which happened to us on a recent trip to Norfolk. Heading to the famous Horsey Gap, we arrived at the carpark to see a sign banning all campervans and motorhomes. However thanks to our National Trust membership we were able to use their carpark close by at the Mill, park for free, enjoy a free tour of the mill before following the path along to Horsey Gap itself. Then enjoy the space later in the day as we caught up with some work. Winner winner chicken dinner ☺️
With over 500 locations under their care it opens up so many days spots to you. Starting at £7.60 a month for a single membership it's highly worth it in our opinion...plus it's a great way to give back 💚

Loch Fleet is the sandy beach you see in the reel, it's a tidal basin south of Golspie. If you follow the golf course road from Golspie through to Littleferry you will find the carpark with approved and allowed overnight parking.
From here you can wander through the deer filled forest or straight onto the beautiful sand dunes which after only a few minutes walking open up to the absolutely stunning sandy bay. Walking to the top corner of the beach, where the loch flows into an estuary you are able to spot countless amounts of seals swimming the tide. We even saw a baby resting on the beach.
If you want diverse wildlife and nature, peace and tranquility, with the comfort of knowing you are staying where you are 'officially' allowed to be then this is the perfect stop for you.

Bude was recently voted as Cornwall's prettiest towns and one of the best in the UK and it's easy to see why.
With a beautiful little surfing town to explore which alongside it's multiple surf shops also has some of the best fudge shops and bakeries we have found to date.
You can then wander along the coast and you pick up the south west coastal path which takes you past the natural sea swimming pool along to the £10 campsite as you head north and further.
📍A simple farmers field with basic facilities (included at the end of the caption) and possibly one of the most breathtaking views we have ever camped with including direct access to the beach which if you enjoy surfing leads to a brilliant sandy surfing beach.
You can also meander further along the path to both Sandymouth beach and Duck pool which are equally as beautiful.
🚐Pulling up the farmers track (which be warned is quite steep and has potholes but if Old Gertie can make it then you should be fine ☺️), past the little bay at the bottom with the fantastic sip and sea outdoor cafe. You pull into a huge farmers field with far reaching views of the ocean. Choose your spot set up camp and wait for the farmers to come round in the evening. It really is that simple 💙

If you want a sandy beach, seal spotting, three woodland walks and a castle then this is the perfect spot for you 🙌🏽
Parking or tent pitching line the shore of Loch Long where you can enjoy the gentle waves that lap the beach, if you are lucky you will also spot seals bobbing out at sea. Also we can both vouch, it's a beautiful spot for a swim. This time of year the water is also...well I won't say warm 🤣but it certainly not freezing and you all know what wimps we are 😂
👣However if you fancy a stroll rather then a swim or sit then there are 3 colour graded walks right from the carpark, 3/4 mile, 1 mile and a 2 mile walk. All of which take you on a fabulous walk with beautiful scenes and sites.
Alternately you can walk the 4.7miles to Carrick Castle 🏰 if you fancied something a little further.
Facilities: Bins, Picnic Benches and 24 hour Toilets.

A Secret Spot we Found and HAD to Share 📍💙A Vanlife Overnight Spot 👇🏽

We actually stumbled upon this spot by pure chance. We found the Greenock Cut Visitor centre on Park4night and thought the remote location would be great for an overnight vanlife stay, which it was!!
However this is a park up that just kept on giving. What at first looks like just a visitor centre carpark actually offers so much more.
The little footpaths that take you off the carpark lead to benches, seats and fire pit areas to enjoy. Then thanks to the laughter we heard that came from the path just as you turn into the carpark...we discovered this stunning wild swimming spot. I mean, does it get much better.
We didn't take a dip this time as a little family were enjoying the delights so we left them in peace, next time we will make more time for a swim however we found this just as we were leaving.

We've been guilty of rushing straight to the NC500 and whilst there are soooo many beautiful stops along that route, there's more to Vanlife in Scotland than just that.
📍Megget Reservoir in Ettick Forest, in the Southern Uplands of Scotland is a breathtaking spot.
If you are looking for a little slice of peace and quiet then this is your spot. With very little passing traffic and only the murmur of other fellow wild campers this is the sort of peaceful retreat we chase living vanlife in the UK.
A 640 acre reservoir which is held back by the largest earth dam in Scotland. Parking around the edge you can either explore by foot, or just sit back and enjoy it's beauty from your camping spot.
This 👆🏽is why we love travelling full-time in our van, discovering spots like this will always feel like a luxury even when living with sacrifice 🫶🏽

Loch Skeen is the highest upland loch in all of Southern Scotland.
🚐Parking is in the Grey Mares Tail National Trusts carpark, 10 miles north east of Moffat on the A708. You then Follow the path up the side of the gorge, passing the 60m high waterfall (shaped like a horse's tail) it's a steep trail so be warned, but does level out at the top. It's around 1.5 miles to Loch Skeen which is buried in the top of the Moffat hills. Taking approximately an hour each way.
The climb is easily walkable however it does get steep in places so not for the faint hearted. I am however scared of heights but have walked this trail a few times now if that helps gage the severity.
After travelling all over Scotland in our van on many occasions we are yet to find a more breathtaking loch. The way the path opens up to this tranquil paradise is beyond words. A slice of paradise so many people miss by heading straight to the Scottish Highlands.
This has to be one of our favourite hidden gems of Scotland.
🚐📍Plus if you Vanlife then this makes for the most perfect overnight parking spot. There are two carparks, one flatter then the other but plenty of space with a stream running straight through the middle. There are bins but aside from that this is a truly naturally wild overnight spot.

It's so close to the border of England and Scotland it's a no brainer to make this your first stop on a vanlife adventure to Scotland.
Caerlaverock Castle Corner is contribution based community campsite for campervans and car camping (no tents) also known as a part serviced Aire. Situated in a national nature reserve you can simply sit back and enjoy the sounds and views of nature. Alternatively only a short walk through the woods from this spot is Caerlaverock Castle itself.
A castle built in the 13th century then abandoned in the 17th century, stands in part ruins, in the middle of nature. With it's tall round towers, highwalls and unusual internal triangular plan this castle is like no other in Scotland.
The castle is open during the day (chargeable) with a cafe on site. During closing hours you can still walk the circumference of the castle which gives you a glimpse of the unusual internal design due to the rear wall being mostly missing.
A must stop spot if you are heading into Scotland.

This spot will have your heart the minute you drive into the village, not only does the ocean open up on your approach you pass a sign welcoming motorhomes and campervans...a pretty good start in our opinion.
Passing the Steam Packet Inn (more on that in a minute) you drive to the end of the harbour and park up in their huge gravel/stone carpark overlooking the ocean with 180 degree views.
From here you can explore the two coves (fantastic for sea glass hunting, fishing, swimming or kayak/paddle boarding) and head up the hill to the epic lookout point with an almost 360 degree view of the ocean.
Or alternatively you can follow the harbour (5 mins walk) back to the Steam Packet Inn, who actually own this car park. Here they sell delicious food and have tables all along the harbours edge. The magic of this pub is it's actually a micro brewery serving the most delicious home brewed ales 'the five kingdoms'. They also sell bottles and cans to take away and enjoy on any of the many benches that are dotted around at every view point. Top tip the Summer isle was our favourite.
This isn't a quiet spot nor a crowded one either. It's just a popular vibrant spot attracting locals and tourists from all around...and once you've stayed it's easy to see why!!

🦦The Otter Pools along the Raiders Road
Raiders road is open between April and October, it's a 10 mile stretch of forest track providing access to some of the most beautiful nature and wildlife. Halfway along the track there is a huge carpark which allows access to the otter pools. Dawn and dusk is the best time to see the little guys in action.
🦌The Red Deer Range off the A712 Queens way. Here you get to see Scotlands largest animal up close. With a wildlife hide and open fencing along the entrance these beautiful red deer come right up to greet you. In October there is also the roarings stags event where you get to marvel in the spectacle of the Red Deer stags rutting and roaring.
🐐Wild Goat Park only a little way along from the red deer range, this offers the same opportunity to get up close and personal with these hairy long horned goats. There are around 50 living in the enclosure with several hundred living in the surrounding hills.
🌊RSPB wood of cree, if you love waterfalls then this is the spot for you. With an otter lookout, woodland walks and a secret waterfall this spot has it all. Right from the carpark you can follow the short trail to the otter look out. Or you can head off up into the woods following an epic stream all the way along the track with multiple little waterfalls to enjoy until you reach the peak of an absolutely epic waterfall. Back down at the carpark if you follow the road along to the left, just before the bridge there is a tuck into the woods where you can view the giant waterfall from the base. It's truly breathtaking.
🎣Isle of whithorn is the perfect spot for fishing or if that doesn't take your fancy I can personally vouch for the vast quantity of sea glass you can forage for, with three bays to access you have have endless shore to scour. Being a harbour there are also hundreds of shells making these the prettiest little bays we have visited to date.

Escapism is one of the most beautiful parts of vanlife, being able to venture and stay in some of natures most remote places is just magical.
Nestled in the Galloway Forest this spot has it all. The carpark is carved into the trees giving shelter and peace and quiet. All we could hear was the stream running across the road and the birds singing in the trees. With limited phone signal this is the perfect stop to switch off from life and recharge.
Opposite the carpark there is a bench right by the waters edge or head off into the trees and follow the 5k Cornish hill walk which opens up to some of the most breathtaking views.

Pannage season begins 🙌🏽If you have visited the New Forest before then you will know that free roaming horses, cows and donkeys will often join you on your adventures BUT it gets even better.
On the 22nd September the same commoners (the name for local farming landowners who live in the New Forest) that own the animals which already roam the forest also release an abundance of 🐖 PIGS and PIGLETS to free roam 🙌🏽
How cool will it be to see these little delights roaming and grazing the forest ground. You have to hurry though as they are only released for a couple of months whilst food is in its plentiful 🌲
You see the pigs hoover up all the fallen acorns which fall onto the forest floor and are poisonous to the horses and cattle. A tradition which has been happening since the 1800's. Back then over 6000 were released but over the years the numbers have diminished and now only around 600 are released every year.
We cannot wait to go pig spotting, there is something so fabulous about seeing animals freely graze, I can't really explain it, you will just have to go and see for yourself.

1. Head to Caerlaverock Castle Campsite
A community donation based campsite. This is a small carpark in nature with little bays to park and picnic tables.
🚐 Facilities include a chemical waste point and fresh water
👣A 20 minute walk through the woods brings you through to Caerlaverock Castle, both the ruins and the castle itself.
2. Seven Stones Dalbeattie
A carpark which is part of the Forestry Commissions 'stay the night' scheme. Nestled in the woods with picnic benches.
🚐Facilities include 24 hour toilets
👣Head off into the woods and follow the trail up the hill where you will find a picnic bench placed high up on the trail with breathtaking views of Dumfries and Galloway below.
3. Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre
A carpark right on the waters edge. The visitor centre is permanently closed however all the picnic tables and benches have been left for everyone to enjoy.
🚐 Facilities include a chemical waste point
👣 A short walk past the visitor centre and along the waters edge brings you to Bruces Stone or cross the road and head up the track for panoramic view of the loch below.
4. Kirroughtree Visitor Centre
A carpark which is part of the forest commissions 'stay the night' scheme (£7) A huge carpark with plenty of spaces, leveling chucks advised. Nestled deep in the woods the stars are breathtaking on a clear night.
🚐Faculties include 24 hour toilets, £3 showers, bike hire, drinking water and a cafe
👣There are four colour graded walks all of different lengths up into the woods, where you will find some of the most diverse and stunning nature.
5. Isle of Whithorn
A carpark at the end of the harbour, owned by the pub just around the corner. A very popular spot when we stayed and it's easy to see why. With views out to sea this is a little haven for Vanlife.
🚐Facilities include 24 hour toilets, bins and drinking water. Plus a harbour side pub and local brewery.

Every sacrifice you make to live in a van is worth it when you come to Scotland 💙
Being welcomed and accommodated is such a HUGE feeling. People smile when they see you park up, often stopping for a chat. Be it dog walkers, hikers, other campers...the whole attitude in Scotland is different.
Nature isnt under lock and key like it is in England, in fact they go out of their way to make it accessible for all 💚
We've only been back here for two weeks now and up until today hadn't even left Dumfries and Galloway. Scotland is so much more than just the NC500. We are so pleased we took out time this trip and don't just motor to the highlands as we normally would.
I know we haven't been to Europe yet which some may think is crazy after 14 months or living full-time vanlife but with Scotland just at our finger tips we are yet to feel the urge.

We were conned last year. About 5 months into full-time vanlife living last year we brought a bigger van. It was a con and we lost £1000's.
We haven't spoken much about it because even 9 months on it's still quite raw.
The fallout from it was multilayered. When you are conned it has a financial and an emotional impact that only those unfortunate enough to experience it will ever know.
It could have derailed us. It almost did.
However nature saved us 💚 I know that sounds dramatic but it did. Being able to drive our little home around the UK, discovering some of the most epic spots we have ever seen, the gratitude of the experience fuels you in ways you wouldn't imagine.
This last year may have been rough in places (winter vanlife in the UK is also a learning curve) but it's been transformative and utterly magic ✨ in others. Learning the difference between wants and needs allows you to live your most authentic life.
Never have we felt more present. More grateful. We feel everything. We experience more. We live in every single moment. Not one minute passes you by.
So yes Old Gertie maybe small but she can take us everywhere we want to go and when you get to wake up in places like this it feels greedy to ask for anything more ❤️

Vanlife in Scotland is an absolute dream 💙
We love wild parking and would do it 100% of the time, however in England, we all know it's harder. The attitude and approach to it can at times mean you have to have slightly thicker skin. Which we do.
However you need some respite every now and again when living full-time vanlife. A place to know you can just be. Which is often when we book into a campsite. However camping side by side with holiday makers isn't why we choose this life, so the security also comes with a sacrifice.
In Scotland however it's an entirely different story. Thanks to the forest commission you can now overnight for one night at the cost of £7 a vehicle across a number of their forest carparks.
This was one we visited when we were here in January so had to come back this time. All the details will be in todays story or highlighted if your reading this at a later date.
Wild parking with the comfort of knowing not only are you allowed but your welcomed. Scotland, thank you 💙x

Not bad for an old girl, Go on Old Gertie!! We drove our 36 year old Talbot Express from the south of England to the south of Scotland in one day. Sure we didn't get there quickly (gerts is most comfortable at 55mph) but we got here eventually and that's the main thing ☺️
We promised ourselves this time we would explore the south of Scotland as we normally head straight to the Highlands but as you all know with us...plans can change overnight 🤣🙈.

Another Vanlife Reality - *Stats below 👇🏽
It takes us about 4 minutes to put our bed up everyday and about the same putting it all away again.
That's about 49 minutes a week, which is roughly 196 minutes a month...which means if you buy a van without a permanent bed you will spend roughly 3.2 hours a month putting up and putting down your bed.
We know people are always unsure whether to have a fixed or fold away bed, hopefully this will help you decide.
Our deductions after a year of doing this full-time...a permanent bed is a better option if living full-time in your van, a fold away is perfect for short term travel.

I know today's a bit of a basic one but who doesn't love less washing up and saving on gas at the same time when you live in a van. It's an easy one pot wonder, whilst it may not look like much I can promise you, it's delicious (Trist approved 🤗).

Cooking in a van, part 3 of this week's Vanlife series...ingredients below 👇🏽
Soup
One sweet potato
One carrot
One onion
Curry powder and spices of your choice
One tin of coconut milk
About 750 ml vege stock (dependant on the consistency you prefer for your soup)
Chilli cheese garlic Naan
1 1/2 cups of self raising flour
1 cup of natural yoghurt
Handful of grated cheese
Sprinkle of chilli flakes
Sprinkle of garlic granules
Knob of butter
Chopped parsley (if you choose)
Best thing about this soup, as it's not made from dairy you can just leave it in your pan and heat up and eat as required 🤙🏽

Would you live full-time in a van...
When digital nomad life becomes tricky with vanlife 🤣☺️
(not everyday is Instagram-able but I'm not going to let that stop me 😂 and I did promise more content after all 🙈)
A no/weak signal campsite can be our nemesis, there's no denying it and house life doesn't transfer to Vanlife in exactly the same way. Yes we have a shower and all the facilities of a house, it's just everything takes about five times longer to use 🤣 Especially when your van is a total space of 5 metres by 2 metres, it can become a game of Tetris.
Which just means sometimes you just have to reorder priorities when you're on a time limit.
Getting the van switched up ready to drive, the animals fed and walked and getting signal was today's...in that order. Completed ✅
BUT to do all of that before 8.30am can be a little tiring I won't lie, and time consuming I should add. Hence you don't mind working in your own filth 😂AND if it means you can get your day cleared by 3 o'clock, which means heading to the beach for a spot of seaside wild camping for the night. It's worth it I reckon. Let the weekend commence 🤗
P.S at the time of posting this I can confirm showers and teeth brushing have been completed. I even brushed my hair 💁🏼♀️😂

📍Reedham Ferry Inn Campsite, Norfolk
- £16 a night non electric, £22 a night electric
- Showers, Toilets, Washing up area, Bins and Water
- Unlimited use of the campsites private slip way
- A pub with beer garden right on the waters edge
This was our first time in Norfolk and we found a gem to start with 🤗
- The walk to Reedham village is about 20 minutes along the rivers edge where there are two little village shops and a pop up restaurant, with a further two pubs on the rivers edge. There's also a convience store and chip shop open Thursday to Saturday.
- 30 minutes drive is Horsey Gap and hours drive is the Blickley Estate.
A great little spot, we loved it and we are sure you guys will too 🙌🏽

How to and what you need 👇🏽
Living in a van, store cupboard recipes are a staple. With fridge and freezer space limited you learn to cook with alternatives.
Walnut mince bolognese being one of these. A simple cheap alternative and tastes delicious.
⚠️Disclaimer: I'm not a chef 😂I'm a read a recipe once and then do my best to remember it whilst adding my own twist as I go kind of cook. I'm a make it up as I go along, with a little bit of this and a little bit of that kind of cook. I'm a nothing ever tastes exactly the same twice kind of cook.
Hopefully with my recipe, you will feel free to do the same. Change it up depending on your taste, you can't really do wrong.
Ingredients
Walnuts as many as you want. I would say a smallish pack serves two...with leftovers ☺️
Stock
Smoked paprika
Tomato paste (could also be ketchup)
Worcestershire sauce
Garlic powder - Optional
Onion salt - Optional
Mixed Herbs - Optional
Method
Put your walnuts in a bowl and cover with warm stock. Soak for a minimum of 30 minutes minimum.
Remove the walnuts from the liquid, keeping the liquid to make your Bolognese sauce later.
Finally chop your walnuts.
In a frying pan gently fry together the paste/ketchup, herbs and flavourings with some olive oil. I also added half a teaspoon of Vegemite this time which worked well.
Then add your chopped walnuts to the frying pan with a little of the stock water. Keep adding the liquid until completely absorbed and your walnuts have a soft bite.
Add in a tin of tomatoes (I like the tinned whole cherry tomatoes you get at Aldi) and your cooked pasta.
Serve and top with cheese. Voila. Simple, cheap and easy ☺️

Living in a van...it's a simple, happy life ✨
1. That feeling after you've cleaned and you look back to admire your work. Then realise you still haven't fixed your leaky tap, the tissue shoved undernearh is a give away 😂
2. A layered quesadilla, because we fancied something greasy and cheesy. Fun fact, I made that chopping board. It doesn't really fit in any of the cupboards and can be a death trap if left unsecured when travelling. It looks so cool though ☺️
3. The first evening we arrived in Norfolk 🙌🏽 it was soooo windy when we arrived but this sunset made up for it. Norfolk is apparently famous for it's golden sunsets and this was a treat.
4. A bouje moment 🥂I know it's not champagne but I always feel bouje drinking bubbles, don't you? Even more so when Trist didn't want any so I had the whole bottle for myself 🙈
5. Our first fire in the bell tent which has been renamed Bertie. I've dreamed of a log burner in a bell tent for years so this was a very cool moment.
6. Last nights dinner, Bolognese with a walnut mince. If you follow our stories you will know this was meant to be a lasagna, we came close.
7. The first time cooking on the log burner, I went with a simple one pot pasta and it worked a treat. Have you seen the hack? The one where you cook the pasta in stock then when there is just a little liquid in the bottom you mix in parmesan and butter. Voila a cheesy, easy pasta in one pot. Ideal for vanlife cooking 🤙🏽
8. Last nights sunset, I mean what can I say 🙌🏽
9. Murphy sleeping. Animals doing human things is just adorable isn't it. He sleeps like this often ❤️
10. What happens when the tumble dryer onsite dies 🤣all just part of the Vanlife living isn't it...you learn to adapt 🤗

A spot to add to your Vanlife adventures!! This was a pinch me moment. We had read that seal spotting was high on this beach but we did not expect this.
At least 20 seals laying on the beach, a gazillion more bobbing in the sea, surfing! All only just metres away from us. It was incredible.
We've had this destination on our list for so long and are just grateful we got a break in the rain yesterday and could go. It's an absolute must if you are visiting Norfolk, Great Yarmouth in particular.
However one thing to note if you are driving in anything but a car then you aren't able to park in the Horsey Gap carpark. However 3 minutes up the road is a National Trust carpark (Horsey Windpump) which has a footpath leading all the way to the beach (It's about an hour's round walk) along with toilets, a second hand book shop, an outside tea room, and the Windpump itself. Both parking and Windpump access are free to members 😎
The beach is closed October - January with viewing points available and it's a dog's on leads policy all year round.

Those who follow our stories will already know that Old Gertie has had some issues today 🙈These things happen when your home has wheels it's just unfortunate it's happened now after she was only in the garage a few weeks ago.
But hey! Every part that goes wrong is replaced with brand new so we are slowly regenerating Old Gertie. It can be stressful though therefore it's important to try and take these things in your stride. Which for us means we tend to switch off from devices to reset...hence I filmed nothing from today (aside from a few updates in the stories). This beautiful sunset was taken the night before 🧡 Cornwall really is a vanlife heaven, the views are simply incredible from our spot.
After the AA came we walked, Trist went for a surf and I hung out with the boys 🐱🐶it was exactly what we needed to recharge our positive perspective.
So the long and short of it is...Old Gerties overheating due to a broken rad fan and possible thermostat issue. Ideally we would get her into a garage here but there is nothing available until next week and we need to head east on Sunday.
Therefore we have a temporary fix...we are just hoping it's enough to get us the 5 hours back to our mechanic. It's going to mean an early start on Sunday to drive in the cooler weather but we are confident the old girl can do it 🙌🏽
In some ways you could blame these issues on Gertie being older but to be fair mechanical issues will happen regardless of the age of your vehicle. It's just how the cookie crumbles.
So after initially feeling a little despondent (no one's bullet proof) we have reset, recharged and are back to seeing things through a positive mindset.
Oh did I mention we also ran out of gas which we won't be able to replenish until Sunday...but hey, the kettle heats up on candles and we have a BBQ and blue skies so not really much to complain about is there ☺️
All just part of living the Vanlife way, you've got to take the rough with the smooth.
We hope you are all ready for the weekend and have the sunscreen at the ready, she's going to be a beaut apparently.

Vanlife living - Today we had stresses, we had problems to overcome and things to work out but that never ever stops us from appreciating the little moments.
Life happens, it will throw curve balls, it will try and trip you up but when you fill your heart with gratitude and you see life through a perspective of positivity there will always be moments to reset your day.
It's so much easier to tackle problems when you teach yourself to be grateful for the little moments.
We have a few more days in Cornwall before heading south for two weeks but then we are heading back this way. A summer of surfing is the plan.
On that note does anyone know of any good surfside campsites? To be honest I think it would be hard to beat the one we've found but you never know ☺️

Day 312 of Living in a van...Today's ✨moment was coffee, sat on the grass, looking at the sea 💙💚
It's such a funny ole life living in a van, you have moments when you know people must think we are foolish for living this way (Cold wet winters ring a bell 🤣) but then other moments when we know our life appears privileged. Such stark contrast between sacrificing in some ways but receiving in a abundance in others.
BUT cold wet, sunny or warm, we are so grateful to live this life. To explore. To live so close to nature. It's truly magical and a life that is teaching us so much.
Honestly Vanlife is life changing in so many ways, not just how you live but how you think, how you see and how you feel.
Never have we felt so connected. So grounded. So content and so fortunate.

Today is 310 of Living in a Van...this last week we have been enjoying our life of slow travel down in Cornwall.
It's been a real mix bag of weather but the glimpses of blue sky days has us fuelled for the warmer weather ahead.
Vanlife takes on another level in the warmer weather. The bare feet on grass. BBQ cooking. Nights spent around a campfire. Everything is easier in the sun, don't you agree?
Living in a van is as much about travel as it is living outside in nature and we intend to utilise it as our playground...surfing, fishing and cycling is our Summer focus. With some walks thrown in of course, you know us!

Day 309 of Slow Living Travel in Old Gertie. Today was a surf day 🌊
We woke up to blue skies and sunshine this morning, so after editing this week's YouTube video (10 unmissable Vanlife spots in England) we threw on our wetsuits and jumped in the surf. I (Kez) am still learning so today was balancing on a body board and I can't tell you the fun I had.
Being able to share in Trists passion is what excites me the most...people come alive doing what they love and that's certainly true for Trist. He has blue eyes and I swear after surfing they are the bluest I ever see them 💙
Aside from all the physical effort it can feel almost mediative when the waves calm between sets and you are just there bobbing the water 🤗 Love it!!
After surfing we sat on the grass eating BBQ food and drinking tequila...a pretty good Saturday if you ask me.
These longer days are just magical aren't they, to think a few months ago at 4 o'clock we would have been cosied up in the van and now we are sitting on the beach having a glass of red at 7.30!!! 🙌🏽🫶🏽

Day 308 of living in nature 💚...because let's face it that's what vanlife is all about, well for us at least.
Today was Trists birthday 🎉 and we spent it watching the surf (hoping for waves) eating yummy food, drinking all the drinks and having a massive fire at sunset 🫶🏽
📍Cornwall is just stunning. It feels like a playground to us, when there's waves we surf when there's not, we walk. I mean, what more can you ask for!!
We are both feeling so grateful, happy and blessed today...amazing what a cheeky bit of blue sky can do ☺️

After a bit of a windy wet day here in Cornwall it dried up just in time for a little sunset walk...not quite the sunset we had the night before (if you follow our stories you would have seen it) but still a beauty.
We are absolutely loving this slow travel period in Cornwall, being back by the sea feels like where we both belong 💙 it's just so calming isn't it!
No surf today but it's a certain someone's birthday tomorrow so fingers crossed there's a wave of two he can catch ☺️

Day 306 - Blue sky mornings - Living Full-time in our campervan Old Gertie 🚐
Is there anything better then a blue sky morning 🙌🏽💙?
This morning we walked along to Sandymouth bay...a beach where we spotted the salt path being filmed last year can you believe. There's a little waterfall on the beach and a cafe just up from it. A great little spot to watch the morning surfers.
I want to say the rest of the day was spent exploring and adventurising around Cornwall...nope, it was a washing and work day. We did keep an eye on the surf but nothing really materialised. We did however get blessed with the most stunning of sunsets that little up the Cornish sky.
So our in-between may have been a bit boring but when it starts with a blue sky walk and ends with a beer and sunset I call that a pretty damn good day ☺️
Tomorrow it's meant to rain again all day 🤣😂so I'm just happy we got our outside jobs all done ready for another productive day in the van....the more we get done whilst it rains, the more time we have to play when it's sunny 🤗

Today we got rained in. Which given the last couple of days lovely weather 🌤️we can accept the balance 🙌🏽I mean we've caught a tan and been surfing already and it's only April!
Plus a rainy day means a productive one 🤗we spent the majority of the day working and filming for YouTube...we have a little Vanlife channel over there if you haven't checked it out...aside from that, we cleaned the van. Cooked. Walked Frank.
You know the usual life tasks...just when you live in a van you get to do it all with that epic view 😉
How do you deal with the rainy days? Do they make you stir crazy or do you love the cosiness?
Keep your fingers crossed for us that it's nicer tomorrow, this little novice fair weather surfer wants to get back out on the waves. If I'm going to be a *professional surfer by the end of the Summer then I need to get cracking 🤗
